This "C-shaped" courtyard building provides affordable market-rate housing while respecting the scale of its transitional neighborhood. By shifting the building mass north toward commercial zones and opening a generous south-facing courtyard, the design offers density for the city while maintaining privacy for the single-family homes nearby.
